With over 2.4 million acres or 900,000 hectares, this site has vast intact grasslands and large populations of prairie dogs.
Species of biological concern are swift fox and sage grouse. Focal species include ferruginous hawk, chestnut-collared longspur, and lark bunting.
To date, this site has received little attention from conservation organizations.
